Heather Sincavage

Heather Sincavage earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, and her Master of Fine Arts Degree from the School of Art at the University of Washington in Seattle.

As a mixed media artist, Heather seeks to explore and question the societal expectations of female identity in her current work. She often explores the uses and meanings of both derogatory and complimentary labels placed on a person that can alter others’ opinions.

Heather incorporates a wide range of materials into her work, including wood, fine metals, hair, fabric, plants, photography and more. Her art, which is often seen as unconventional, evokes a sense of myth and folklore.

Heather’s professional career includes extensive teaching in the arts. She is currently an adjunct professor at Lehigh University in Bethlehem and an instructor at Allentown’s Baum School of Art. She has also taught at Kutztown University, Kutztown; Marywood University, Scranton; and the University of Washington, as well served as artist-in-residence for the Lehigh Valley Arts Council. She is a Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts grant recipient and has been awarded a fellowship from the Vermont Studio Center.
