Wire Wrapping with Valerie Breaux Haaf

SP-3010 • Thurs., March 27-May 15, 6:30-9:30 p.m.

This class teaches the art of creating basic jewelry from start to finish. Using basic copper and silver wire bending and hammering techniques, students create one-of-a kind designs. Participants begin by learning the process of wire wrapping, bending and linking. Building on these skills, they then add ornaments to create earrings, bracelets and necklaces. Basic use of all tools and finishing are included. $205 plus $30 materials fee

Learn basic jewelry and metalsmithing techniques by making a variety of pieces such as a cuff bracelet and pendant. Explore cutting, forming, piercing, stamping, shaping, filing, finishing and oxidizing. Students are encouraged to incorporate other elements such as found objects or glass into finished pieces. Hone in on your finishing skills and walk away with beautiful wearable pieces!

$155 plus $30 materials fee

Precious Metal Clay with Phyllis Fogel

SP-3011 • Wed., March 26-May 14, 6:30-9:30 p.m.

Precious Metal Clay (PMC) is an amazing clay-like substance that when fired sets to a fully metallic silver material. In this class, Phyllis teaches the many properties of PMC by making charms, pendants and earrings. As the course moves forward students learn how to set stones in PMC, integrate porcelain chards and make rings. Polishing techniques and sculpting with PMC paste are covered; all firing instruction included.

$205; A $35 PMC kit is needed each week for projects. Students purchase the PMC directly from the artist at the first class (cash or check).
