Learn the art of using a digital camera from professional photographer Alyssha Eve Csük. Alyssha leads you through the mechanics of camera operations, as well as managing, emailing and preparing digital files for printing. Basic Photoshop techniques are covered in this class. We provide Olympus digital cameras or you can bring your own. Beginners welcome. Basic knowledge of digital cameras is helpful; knowledge of PC or Mac required.

Fine Art Figure Photography with Olaf Starorypinski

Spend eight weeks with the area’s top fine art photographer, Olaf Starorypinski, as you explore the human form through black & white and color photography. Trained in London, Olaf is a master of lighting and shooting the human form. During this class, attendees spend time shooting and critiquing images.

Explore earlier periods in the history of photography and get inspired by some of the masters. In this class, students focus on the creation of a body of 10-12 images, prepared for gallery style presentation. Class work includes group critiques and editing down a series of images to its strongest grouping. Digital 101 or basic digital photo skills strongly recommended.

Advanced Digital Photography with Alyssha Eve Csük

This class emphasizes advanced Photoshop techniques and retouching while covering digital application of traditional darkroom techniques, such as split toning, lith printing, Polaroid transfer effects, hand coloring techniques and convert to grey options. Some emphasis is given to critiques and further exploration of students’ individual strengths and unique styles. Students should have taken Digital 101 and/or have a strong understanding of Photoshop layout, functionality and editing.

From Blogs to Books: Creating and Sustaining Personal Photographic Projects with Bill Lowenburg
SP-6016 • Thurs., March 27-May 15, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
In this class, each student creates a photoblog, contributes to a pool of class photos on Flickr and has the option of producing a small book of their work through an online printing service. Participants are introduced to the process of brainstorming, planning and organizing their project, finding resources and refining their work through editing and critiquing. They also learn how to give and receive constructive feedback in a workshop environment and are introduced to the user-friendly photo editing and publishing software Picasa. For the first class, each student should bring as much of their previous work as possible.
