Basic Black & White Photography with Edward Leskin

This introductory class focuses on the basic skills of shooting, processing and printing black & white photos. Professional photographer Edward Leskin shares his expertise on equipment and the newest strategies for the darkroom enthusiast. All levels welcome; students must supply their own cameras.

Advanced Black & White Photography with Edward Leskin

SP-6023 • Sat., March 29-May 17, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

This class builds on the fundamentals of the Basic Black & White Photography class, expanding into advanced techniques in conventional, silver-based black & white imaging. Fine-tuning of technique, using various combinations of professional films, papers, chemistry and expanding the knowledge of format beyond 35mm film cameras are all covered. There is also a special emphasis for each student to research the masters of photography - Ansel Adams, Walker Evans, W. Eugene Smith and Sabastio Salgado to name a few - and relate their work to these influential movers in the history of photography.
