INTRODUCTION TO BASKET WEAVING WEEKEND WORKSHOPwith Cori Ruszkowski

SM-6011 • Sat.-Sun., Aug. 23-24, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

This two-day workshop covers all the basics of working with flat reed. Day one includes discussion regarding types of materials and resources for obtaining materials, how to dye raw materials, basic flat and twill weaves, starting and finishing baskets and incorporating wooden handles. Participants learn these skills by making wine baskets and/or berry baskets. Day two builds upon the techniques learned in the first day as participants discover how to work with wooden hoops by making ribbed baskets such as melon baskets and/or Hopi carrying baskets.
$105 plus $15 materials fee
