Reception: April 4, 6-9 p.m.
Four decades of artwork examining the complexities of humanity will be showcased in “The Art of M.K. Sadigh,” the new exhibit on display in the Banko Family Room Gallery of the Banana Factory, 25 W. Third St., Bethlehem, from March 22-May 25.
This exhibition, featuring 18 works by Bethlehem-based artist M.K. Sadigh, examines the complexities of humanity. Through the use of images, lines, colors and composition, Sadigh’s drawings and paintings explore a variety of social themes and human interaction in everyday life.
“The viewers should encounter the naked truth and recognize the artwork not as something alien to his or her life, but as a mirror reflecting the concealed truth of human life,” Sadigh says.
Born in Khoram-abad, Iran, Sadigh first became passionate about art when as a 7-year old he drew a copy of a Chinese landscape painting that was hanging in his grandfather’s house. With the support of family and teachers, he grew as an artist, traveling around the world to study art and showcase his work.
Sadigh earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at Tehran University in Iran, his Master of Arts Degree in art education from Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec, and a doctorate in education 1982 from Columbia University in New York, N.Y. He has exhibited widely throughout the United States, Canada and Iran, and his work has appeared in numerous books and periodicals around the world.
