James Harmon has been integrally involved in glass art and design for more
than 35 years. He is the recipient of the NEA Master Craftsman Award and
two Creative Glass Center of America Fellowships, and his work is included
in many eminent museum and private collections worldwide, including the
Renwick Gallery in the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C.
James’ relationship with glass began at Rhode Island School of Design in
1971. Since that time, he has been celebrated with many outstanding artistic
awards for his visionary work.
James’ pieces can be seen in numerous art books and publications. He has
produced hundreds of architectural glass details, awards and lighting pieces
for many renowned clients, and he has taught at the most prestigious glass,
art and design schools in the world, including Gerrit Rietveld Academie
in Amsterdam, The Netherlands; New York University and Parsons School of
Design in New York City; Penland School of Crafts in Penland, N.C.; Pilchuck
Glass School in Stanwood, Wash.; The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass
in Corning, N.Y.; Lehigh University, Bethlehem; and The University of the
Arts in Philadelphia.
