Nessa Grainger has been devoted to watercolor since high school. Her art took her to the Philadelphia Museum School of Art, the Tyler School of Art and The Pennsylvania Academy. She also worked closely with Ben Kamahira and Ben Eisenstadt.
Nessa has exhibited throughout the United States and parts of Europe. She has received numerous medals of honor, including from The National Association of Women Artists, Catherine Lorillard Wolfe, Audubon Artists of America, Garden State Watercolor, New Jersey Watercolor Society and the Knickerbocker Artists.
Nessa has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Elliot Museum in Florida; Rutgers University, Warner Lambert Gallery and the Somerset Art Center in New Jersey; the Interchurch Center Gallery in New York; the Baum School of Art in Allentown; and numerous galleries throughout the United States. Her work has been included in traveling shows in India, Greece, Israel, Egypt, Mexico and Puerto Rico, and it is in permanent collections in the Zheijiang Museum, Hangchow, China; Libraries of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; the National Museum of American Art, Washington, D.C.; The Modern Museum of Art, New York; The Penn State University Gallery in State College, Pa.; and The Berman Museum of art at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa.
Nessa is included in “Best of Watercolor (1997 and 1999),” “Slash 3,” “Collage Techniques by Gerald Brommer,” “Best of Watercolor – Composition, Dimensions in Collage,” “Famous Women in Hunterdon County,” “Watercolor Magic,” “Watercolor Magic – Creativity” and many additions of “Who’s Who.” Working with watercolor and watercolor collage, she continues to experiment and now uses and combines these mediums to create beautiful textures in her work.
