The Art of Business: GlassWorks

The Banana Factory is home to GlassWorks, the only hot glass studio in the Lehigh Valley.

Making hot glass demands teamwork because the process itself requires various tasks to be performed in a dance-like choreography of steps.

Timing and temperature are the critical elements of the process, and all steps need to be performed at specific moments in order to complete the work in a timely and proper fashion.

The Art of Business offers three programs in the GlassWorks studio:

Hot Glass Demonstration

This introductory session provides participants with a one-hour hot glassblowing demonstration led by our esteemed glass artists. The program combines art and eduction and shows participants the importance of planning, teamwork and coordination in creating glass art. This is a great program for those looking for a break during a half or full day of meetings, presentations or planning sessions.

Time: 1.5 hour
Cost: $400

Hot Glass Teambuilding

Experience a private demonstration and studio session, where GlassWorks artists work with your group to make a stunning collaborative piece. This experience starts with an informative narrative and demonstration of the project. Individual job descriptions are defined to acquaint participants with their role in the glassblowing group process. Groups of 4-6 people work together on the studio floor as they design and create a glass piece as a team. All the group pieces are then combined into a larger sculpture after the experience for the team to take home. A group photo of your experience is also included.

Cost: $1800 (for up to 12); $2500 (for up to 24)

Hot Glass Experience

This demonstration and studio session includes GlassWorks artists who work directly with each member of your group to design and create a flower or paperweight that you can make and take home. Participants learn basic glassblowing skills before trying their hand at this unique process. A group photo is also included.
