Get Creative at Musikfest!

Musikfest is known nationwide as the largest free music festival in the country, with more than 500 performances spread out across Bethlehem, PA. In the midst of all the amazing music at the festival, held August 3-12, you can take a moment to make some beautiful art for your home! Join The Banana Factory Arts Center at Familienplatz for these unique creative opportunities!

PHOTOPASS: Trombone Shorty’s Voodoo Threauxdown Tour

Aug. 2 – Register Here

This is a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at Musikfest with Brian Hineline, who’s photographed hundreds of concerts over the past 20 years for Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other publications. You’ll work alongside Brian at Musikfest’s Sands Steel Stage media pit, photographing Trombone Shorty, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and New Breed Brass Band for the first three songs of their sets (no flash)!

Musikfest Hot Glass Experience: Mushroom or Gnarly Paperweight

Aug. 3-12 – Register Here

With the guidance of one of our artists, you’ll work one-on-one to create your own glass artwork. You can choose to make either a “Mushroom” or a “Gnarly Paperweight”! Each session takes 20 minutes; ages 6 and up are welcome. No experience necessary.

You’ll work alongside Brian at Musikfest’s Sands Steel Stage media pit, photographing STYX for their first three songs (no flash)!

Wine’d Down: Glass Windchime at Musikfest

Aug. 4 – Register Here

Add some color and sound to your urban or home garden. Join us to design your own wind chime using colorful kiln fired glass and assemble with basic wire wrapping techniques. A voucher for a glass of wine or beer will be provided to students to get the creative juices flowing! All materials are included. This class is for students aged 21 and older.

PhotoPass: Architects of Air

Learn how to capture light and color during this exclusive photographic workshop in the Architects of Air experience at Musikfest! Olympus Visionary photographer Frank T. Smith will lead participants through this singular experience, assisting and instructing on how to approach the unusual subject matter.

Musikfest Flame Working Experience: Swirl or Mushroom Pendant

Aug. 6-9 – Register Here

Start your glass making adventure by doing a Flame Working Experience at Musikfest. This opportunity is presented on the First Friday and Second Sunday of most months, as well as at the major ArtsQuest festivals. Each month features a different item to make. With the guidance of one of our artists, you’ll work one-on one to create your own glass artwork. Each session takes 20 minutes. Ages 13 and up are welcome. No experience necessary.

Wine’d Down: Chalk Lettering at Musikfest

Learn how to create letters, phrases, and designs for Insta-worthy chalkboard signs! Even better, there’s no pressure if you mess up; everything can be erased! You’ll walk away from the class equipped with a new set of skills and chalkboard art for your home, office or upcoming wedding. A voucher for a glass of wine or beer will be provided to students to get the creative juices flowing! All materials are included. This class is for students aged 21 and older.

Few things are as exhilarating as a great fireworks show and few things are as challenging to photograph as these incredible bursts. In this dynamic, new photo experience, learn how to capture this fleeting subject matter on the closing night of Musikfest with professional photographer Ted Colegrove!
