ARTSQUEST PRESENTS 12th ANNUAL INVISION FESTIVAL

Highlights of this month-long celebration showcasing photography, include a “Shred Your Ex” event and a photo walk at the Lehigh Valley Zoo.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – ArtsQuest is proud to present InVision 2021, its annual month-long November celebration of photography and photo-based arts. This year, alongside workshops, demonstrations and exhibitions, two new interactive programs will debut: “Shred Your Ex” and a Lehigh Valley Zoo Photo Walk.

“This year’s program is unique because we are focusing on alternative and historic photographic processes,” said Lisa Harms, ArtsQuest’s Senior Director of Visual Arts and Education. “We believe this provides an opportunity to invite new artists to exhibit and teach with us and provides robust educational opportunities through workshops and classes.”

On Nov. 12, Teaching Artist Rebecca Kelly and Comedian Ben Youngerman will host “Shred Your Ex,” a tangibly cathartic event where photo shredding and weaving techniques will be used to create a closure-inducing group project. On Nov. 27 and 28, the Lehigh Valley Zoo will offer a unique experience that invites photographers of every skill level to get up-close and personal with its resident animals.

InVision 2021’s featured photography artist Jason Chen’s solo exhibition “Second” will be on display in the Banko Family Room Gallery beginning Nov. 2. Chen, of Paradigm Gallery in Philadelphia, will serve as a juror for the 2021 Juried Exhibition and will host an artist discussion during November’s First Friday at the Banana Factory, giving the opportunity to discuss his work in a relaxed setting. Chen is from Guangzhou, China, and specializes in Fashion, Editorial, and Alternative Process Photography. With his background in film and animation, he explores ways to incorporate the “Fourth Dimension” – time – into his work.

The festival will include its annual juried show featuring regional artists and showcase works created using alternative process photography. On display at the ArtsQuest Center will be an exhibit featuring rock and roll icons, photographed by Lisa Lake and Scott Wiener. In addition, Dan’s Camera will host a photo-swap event at the factory on Nov 20.

InVision is a month-long celebration each November showcasing all things photography and photo-based arts, with workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions and photo walks that feature renowned photographers and artists. Over the course of the month, InVision offers professional development, networking and hands-on workshops not only for photographers, but also for image-based artists, creative entrepreneurs, makers and DIYers.
