Deadline: September 28

ArtsQuest is hosting its 8th annual InVision Festival on Nov. 2-4, 2018. The InVision Festival is a premier photo-based art festival that is designed to foster excitement and dialogue between a diverse group of participants around learning about and making art. The 3-day festival and complementary year-long programming provides professional development, networking and hands-on workshops for photographers, image-based artists, creative entrepreneurs, makers and DIYers. InVision Festival leverages the unique attractions, history and landscape of the surrounding region and celebrates its diverse artistic and cultural community.

This year, InVision will be hosting its eighth-annual open juried exhibition, which has expanded from a Pennsylvania based Photography exhibition to a regional* photo-based juried competition. This exhibition looks to highlight work from all types of artists at different stages in their careers as well as many various types of photo-based art.

The Juror for the 8th Annual InVision Juried Exhibition is Harris Fogel. Mr. Fogel is an independent scholar, gallerist, curator, and journalist. Previously Fogel was an Associate Professor of Photography, and served as director and curator of the two photo galleries (Sol Mednick Gallery and Gallery 1401 – the latter of which he founded in 1999) from 1997 to 2018, and was the Program Director and Coordinator of the Photography Program, and Chair of the Media Arts Department (Photo/Film/Animation) at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He is a documentary and fine-art photographer with an extensive background in digital imaging, criticism, photojournalism, and photo history. Fogel has directed, curated, and organized more than 275 photography exhibitions over the past 20 years. His own work can be found in the collections of many museums, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art; The National Museum of American Art at the Smithsonian Institute; the International Center of Photography; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, France; and the High Museum of Art, Atlanta. Fogel’s artist books are found in the library of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He is host and executive producer of Mac Edition Radio, an online resource for technology, photography, music, audio, and digital imaging. He has lectured on photography around the country and in Europe for the U.S. Department of State.
