ArtsQuest is hosting its 11th annual InVision program in November 2021. InVision is a premier photo-based art program that is designed to foster excitement and dialogue between a diverse group of participants interested in the process of creating art. This month-long series and complimentary year-long programming provide professional development, networking, and hands-on workshops for photographers, image-based artists, creative entrepreneurs, makers, and DIYers. InVision Festival leverages the unique attractions, history, and landscape of the Lehigh Valley and celebrates its diverse artistic and cultural community.

This year, InVision will be hosting its 11th-annual open juried exhibition. This exhibition is a regional* photo-based juried competition that will feature works of photographers alongside works outside of photography to include creatives, makers, artists, and designers in multiple creative disciplines that use the photographic process in a significant way.

The theme for the 2021 Juried Exhibition focuses on Alternative-Process photography and mixed media photo-based art. This exhibition aims to feature works that use alternative-process photography techniques, which highlights the unique quality these tactile processes bring to the overall piece.

Juror Info: Jason Chen
Jason Chen is originally from Guangzhou, China. He received his BFA in Animation from the University of Arts in 2008. Jason is a Philadelphia-based photographer specializing in Fashion, Editorial, and Alternative Process Photography. He is the Co-Founder of Paradigm Gallery + Studio and Juggling Wolf (a film and animation production studio). Jason’s work has been displayed in galleries and venues including Paradigm Gallery + Studio, Crane Arts, The Light Room Gallery, Trust Gallery, Kimmel Center, and Commerce Square. In 2012, Jason shifted his dry plate tintypes practice to photo weaving. He began using two images taken within seconds of each other, then cut and wove them together. Because of his background in film and animation, Jason explores ways to incorporate the “Fourth Dimension” - Time - into his work. Photo weaving allows him to do this by exploring movement and mutation.
