Tuesdays, September 10-October 15 | 6:30-9:30 p.m.

This class will explore basic wheelthrowing techniques used by potters to create a variety of projects. Projects students will work on and complete include basic cups, bowls, and mugs. In addition to throwing, centering clay, and trimming, students will also learn about various techniques including wedging & clay preparation, and glazing/finishing techniques. Work will be glazed before the close of class, completed work will be available for pick up at a later date. Students will be contacted via the email used for registration about pick up.

I am Nancy Lewis, and I live in Bethlehem, PA. I am retiring this school year from Bethlehem Area School District after 32 years in the district. I have taught Ceramics the past 28 years at Liberty High School, and for the last 20 years I was the advisor for The Art Club at Liberty.

I am passionate about teaching art and ceramics in particular. I enjoy assisting my students in the process of creating clay pieces, having them fired and glazing them to completion. This is something that I want to continue to do on a smaller scale when I retire.

I also enjoy volunteering in my community. I am a horse feeder for The Bethlehem Mounted Police, I volunteer at The Lehigh Valley Zoo as a docent, I am on the committee for We Got Your Back, a backpack program that gives out free backpacks full of school supplies to children in our area and I am a board member of Friend’s of Liberty Theatre, a non-profit organization that supports the theater at Liberty High School.
