Intro to Pastel Painting
with Marianne Knipe
Tuesdays, February 4-25 | 1-3:30 p.m.
Discover the beauty of pastels in this drawing class. Students will explore a variety of ways to use pastels and pastel pencil while learning how to render what they see. Basic drawing techniques will be discussed while working from observation and photographs. Students are encouraged to bring in photographs that interest them. The instructor will have references as well. Intended for beginners, but all skill levels are welcome. This class is for students aged 18 or older.
Marianne Knipe is passionate about the medium of pastel and she shares that passion with an international audience. She is the recipient of numerous awards and residencies in Europe, Haiti and the United States. She works in her studio in Allentown, Pennsylvania as well as on location. Knipe has been working in pastel for a number of years and enjoys the immediacy and luminosity of the painting process. She is interested in the essence of a landscape or portrait expressed through color and light. Marianne Knipe has been elected to the Pastel Society of America and The American Artists Professional League. She is a signature member of the New Jersey Pastel Society. Her work is in collections in the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean.
