with Virginia Abbott
Wednesdays, October 30-November 20 | 6:30-9 p.m.
Learn the secrets to capture a likeness in pencil sketch drawings. Using photos from magazines, students will sketch the features using measurements, center lines and observations, converting a flat photo into a three-dimensional person. Train your eye to explore forms, shapes and pushing the tonal quality in pencil to complete a finished portrait suitable for framing. All materials are included. This class is for students aged 18 or older.
Virginia Abbott is a long-standing Banana Factory Resident Artist, and is an elected member of the National Sculpture Society. Virginia has had artwork commissioned by the Princeton University, Doylestown Hospital, DaVinci Science Center, Lehigh Valley Health Network, and St. Thomas Moore Church in Allentown. “I create cast paper sculpture entirely from post consumer pulp which is pressed into molds made from my original art. It's my small way of keeping the earth green by producing green art. Who knows, if more of us thought about ways of turning garbage into gold, waste into wonder, trash into treasure, it might not be such a bad thing. Mother Nature would certainly approve.” – Virginia Abbott
