Sunday, November 17 | 7-8:30 p.m.

Go behind the scenes with Mary Ellen Matthews, top entertainment portrait photographer for SNL, as she discusses her experience working with some of the most iconic stars and comedians. She will discuss how she captures her subjects and how improv and comedy have influenced her photography. The audience will have time for Q&A as well as an opportunity to hear some of Matthews’ most memorable moments over the past 20 years.

A New York native, Mary Ellen Matthews has been a top entertainment portrait photographer for over two decades. She has created colorful, iconic images of every well-known personality of the age. Her work documents the uber-famous in myriad fields, from pop stars (Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars) to politicians (Al Gore, George Bush, John McCain), sports legends (Tom Brady, Derek Jeter) to rock gods (Mick Jagger, U2, Jack White, Neil Young). Her experience includes film and television stills, publicity, advertising campaigns and rock tours.

Since 1999, she has been the photographer for Saturday Night Live, where she is responsible for creating (and recreating) the distinctive look of the show’s still images. Through creative and playful styling and a demeanor that puts her subjects at ease, she produces unique portraits under the deadlines of live television.

Recent clients include Warner Brothers Studios and Television, The Fox Broadcasting Company and 20th Century Fox Films. Her work has appeared in publications such as Rolling Stone, Marie Claire and the Spanish edition of Harper’s Bazaar.
