Join glass artists Dan Getz and Hannah Shine as they demonstrate the intricate glass art of flameworking and talk you through the process. Watch as they melt colored glass rods and tubes in a flame and then shape the softened glass into any variety of objects, from glass animals and beads to ornaments and sculptures.

Try out a standing loom and a table loom to create a beautiful community wall hanging, which will be displayed throughout the summer at the Banana Factory Arts Center.

Hands-on Art Projects
Stop by throughout the day and choose from a variety of hands-on art projects for children and adults that are inspired by urban artists! Crafts include origami crowns, drum spinner instruments, wooden ring necklaces, custom buttons, chalk art and more. Registration is not required; drop-ins are welcome! Open to all ages.

Make Lehigh Valley will be running FREE activities for adults and children* ages 8 and up! The activity schedule runs as follows:

1-2 & 5-6 p.m. LED Origami: Make an origami cicada with light up eyes!
3-4 p.m. Printmaking: Make a block print using laser cut wood!
*A parent or guardian must stay with children during activities.

MakeLV is a shared workspace and a community of makers, hackers and creatives based out of Allentown, Pa. They believe that sharing knowledge and ideas with each other allows us to be great makers. Create + Connect Skateboard Design Competition
In partnership with HomeBase610, Lost Soul Skateboards & Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations
In summer 2018, artists submitted designs to win an opportunity to have their artwork printed on a limited-edition printing of skateboards, and to collaborate with local businesses in the production and design process. The public viewed designs at Musikfest and chose their favorite local emerging artists based on the theme of community.
Have a chance to learn more about the competition, view designs and to purchase your own skateboard with proceeds going to support the ‘Push Ahead: Learn to Skate’ programs at Donegon and Fountain Hill Elementary Schools.

Virtual Reality Experience with Pollen Consolidated
This exhibition focuses on adapting traditional art into virtual worlds to create a mixed reality. All of the artwork used for the demonstration was scanned or photographed digitally and those assets were brought into a virtual environment. Once the imagery was imported, our VR artist team adapted additional scenes inspired from the original works and created a combined reality that seems to transcend either artists singular perspective.

LV Photography Group Photo Walk with Ryan Fisher
Join Ryan Fisher of Lasting Image Photography and President of the Lehigh Valley Photo Group for a guided photo walk through SouthSide Bethlehem as part of the SouthSide Arts and Music Festival. This is a free event, with no registration required. The group will be meeting at the front desk of the Banana Factory and participants are encouraged to park in the Riverport Parking Garage. Going on the walk? Hashtag your Facebook post on the LVPG with #lvpginvision for a chance to win the Lehigh Valley Photography Group’s weekly group cover, and a free ticket to an InVision Event.

Join us for a spirited happy hour during our SouthSide Arts & Music Festival! Network with like-minded people while you have some drinks and enjoy one another’s artwork! Dan’s Camera City is partnering with ArtsQuest once again to provide five FREE prints to trade during the Photo & Art Swap. Participants are also welcome to bring their own prints. To order your free prints:

  • Upload your photos.

Ten Tiny Dances is a series presented by Sarah Carlson and DanceLink that cultivates dances made specifically for a 4×4 foot stage. This constraint breeds a wealth of creative possibilities as it encourages artists to truly focus their vision. Alternately tender, funny, thought provoking and always brief, the dances vary in genre and tone so that there is truly something for everyone.

Bring your pop-up chair, Musikfest mug or a bottle of vino to take in the first sights and sounds of summer on the SouthSide! Stop by to see the beautiful murals on the South Bethlehem Greenway, visit the pop-up ArtsWalk and enjoy a live performance from Billy Bauer and Chris Lorenzetti of the Billy Bauer Band on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at New Street and the Greenway.

ArtSmart & BASD Student Art Exhibition
Studio 104, May 3-23
This art exhibition highlights the work of Bethlehem Area School District students taking part in ArtsQuest school programs. Included artwork was created by students from Freemansburg Elementary, Donegan Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Governor Wolf Elementary, Calypso Elementary, Broughal Middle School, Northeast Middle School, Nitschmann Middle School and East Hills Middle School.

Compendium, is designed to highlight the thriving artistic community of the Lehigh Valley and region and to showcase the diverse array of multidisciplinary artists. In addition, the exhibition promotes the Artist Collective program at the Banana Factory Arts Center which offers creative networking, professional development and career opportunities for visual artists. The 2019 exhibition has been curated by Tim Higgins, a working artist and freelance writer, arts journalist, editor, reporter and publisher living and working in the Lehigh Valley for the past 35 years.

Linda Dubin Garfield: Japan Series
Alvin H. Butz Gallery, ArtsQuest Center; Feb. 16-May 12
Linda Dubin Garfield, an award-winning printmaker and mixed media artist, creates visual memoirs exploring the mystery of memory and the magic of place, using hand-pulled printmaking techniques, photography, collage and digital imaging. The “Japan Series” focuses on a collection of work created around a trip to the Japanese Alps.

“You Belong Here” – Maria Tina Beddia & Martha Rich
Banko Gallery, Banana Factory Arts Center; April 27-June 9
A collaboration between Martha Rich & Maria Beddia. Friends and former studio mates, Rich and Beddia explore the concept of home as art. The everyday objects and surroundings we choose make us feel that we belong once we get home after a long day in the world. Our homes are us. We are art.

“What is a Lemon?” Martha Rich Art Installation
Creativity Commons, ArtsQuest Center; April 27-August 26
Daily we are bombarded with chitter chatter, ads, words, sounds and noise. This installation is a physical manifestation of that bombardment.They are the things we overhear, read, see and say, placed as randomly as we experience them. Stories come together in fate.

CALMA: Mural Installation at Café the LodgeThe Art of Pau
Café The Lodge, SouthSide Arts District, Bethlehem
Café The Lodge, internationally renowned mural artist Pau Quintanajornet and ArtsQuest are collaborating on an interactive art experience and mural designed to raise awareness of the challenges people face when dealing with mental health issues when Quintanajornet creates a large-scale mural on the exterior of Café The Lodge, 427 E. Fourth St., Bethlehem, April 26-May 5.
