2015 Olympus InVision College Photo Competition Winners Announced

ArtsQuest and Olympus America Inc. have announced the winners of the 2015 Olympus InVision College Photography Contest, highlighting the work of students from universities throughout the Northeast. Capturing first place in this year’s competition was Glenn D. Koehler Jr. of Northampton Community College for his image from the Flaming Lips show at Musikfest Aug. 7, 2015.

“When I first started taking photography seriously, looking at composition and framing, I was working with a 1.3 megapixel digital camera. Things have come a long way since then, and my appreciation for photography has only grown fonder,” says Koehler. “The study of how light can affect the world around us and what details can lie in the shadows have enamored me more and more as I’ve gotten older. The entire Flaming Lips concert was full of surreal imagery and magical music, and I hope I captured the essence of that with my photograph.”

This year’s College Photography Contest was judged by Rick Smolan, a former Time, Life and National Geographic photographer who’s best known as the co-creator of the Day in the Life book series. The works selected for the Photography Contest exhibition are on display at the Banana Factory, 25 W. Third St., Bethlehem, through Dec. 13.
