About the Summer Art Programs at Banana Factory Arts Center

ArtsQuest’s Banana Factory Arts Center provides young artists the opportunity to explore the exciting world of art and creativity through diverse themes and media under the guidance of professional teaching artists. Young artists will explore, create and showcase their work in a special exhibition each week. Our goal is to help young artists gain self-confidence, self-awareness and independence as they develop fundamental life skills in critical thinking and problem solving.

Camps run June 10-July 26 and Aug. 12-23 in full and half days over eight one-week sessions for children ages 4-9. Pre-Teen and Teen Art Intensives are also available in full or half-day sessions for ages 10-18. Camp is broken down into age groups with low student-to-teacher ratios so that each young artist is challenged with age-appropriate techniques and materials. Our youngest camp artists (ages 4-9) rotate through four different studios in a full-day to explore new mediums and techniques as they create masterpieces based on a weekly theme. Designed with pre-teen and teen artists in mind, the Intensives class (ages 10-18) builds foundational skills by providing exploratory workshops in a variety of artistic media. Each morning or afternoon class intensive provides an opportunity for in-depth learning and experimentation in a specific medium under the guidance of a professional teaching artist.

Location

All classes take place at the Banana Factory Arts Center, a dynamic community resource that advances contemporary visual art in Bethlehem by connecting artists and communities in unexpected ways. As an open forum for exploring the artistic process, the arts center fosters creativity through making, learning about, seeing and discussing art – all under one roof. Classes are offered year-round for children, teens and adults. Visit the class page for more information.

Visiting Artists & Art Parties

On Friday afternoons we will welcome a visiting artist or special guest from the community to enhance our learning. New this summer, ArtsQuest will be partnering with the Bethlehem Public Library to bring in a different children’s book author or illustrator each week to meet campers! After a visit with our special guest, campers will celebrate with family and friends at an Art Party and exhibition of their artwork in our professional art galleries where they can display their projects and demonstrate the skills they learned during camp that week.
