One Day Workshop

Tuesday, May 16 | 6-9 p.m.

Kurinuki is a pottery technique from Japan where a vessel is created by carving from a block of clay. This process is slow, thoughtful, and meditative to create unique pieces which cannot be replicated. Students will create a set of 2 vessels using this organic hollowing and carving technique. This workshop will require use of a handheld torch. Pieces can be picked up at a later date as bisque-ware or brought to a glaze day offered by the instructor after the first firing.

Gabriella Gentile is a visual artist from Scranton, Pennsylvania. She received her Bachelor of Visual Arts from Keystone College in 2020 where she concentrated in ceramics, sculpture, and graphic design. While Gentile’s main focuses are in ceramics and sculpture, she also has experience and interest in printmaking, drawing, painting, and textile/ fiber arts.
