Not born with a silver spoon? Come and make one in the jewelry studio!

Use your jewelry fabrication skills to design and create a unique and useful art spoon. This common and simple form can inspire great creativity! We will saw silver sheet into shape for the bowl of the spoon and dome it with the dapping block. The handle can be made of twisted round wire for an organic look or textured sheet metal that can be stamped, pierced and sawed, layered or even set with a stone! The possibilities are wide open in this fun project.

Basic fabrication skills will be taught and advanced students are welcome to apply what they know.

Erica is a multi-passionate silversmith, SoulCollage® facilitator, and teaching artist, based in Hunterdon County NJ. She earned her BA in art therapy from New Jersey City University in 2012, and studied mental health counseling and art therapy on the graduate level at Caldwell University. As an exhibiting silversmith, Erica is fascinated by the deep, personal connection people form with jewelry. These objects hold meaning, memory and even identity as they become interwoven into the lives of their wearers. In her work, she strives to honor the age-old practice of body adornment as a meaningful ritual of empowerment and transformation. She exhibits her silver work at various art markets, music and yoga festivals, and Renaissance fairs all over the northeast USA.
