2-Day Workshop

Saturday & Sunday, October 21 - October 22 | 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Paint and draw in a looser and more expressionistic contemporary manner. Using a live model as subject matter, refine your painting skills to create a lively surface which will be considered a playground for intuitive creativity, technique and skill. Expert instruction and advice will push students to explore new possibilities and work more intuitively, allowing unplanned marks and passages to become artistic breakthroughs. Examples from contemporary and modern art will be examined to promote a broader understanding of the abstract qualities of space, line and color. All levels are welcome, and a supply list will be provided for registered students. Please note, the model may be nude for portions of the workshop.

“The main goal of this workshop is to encourage you to step outside of your comfort zone. The expectation should be to give yourself the opportunity to learn something new and have some fun. The focus will be on technique and process. You will learn expressive painting techniques for the modern painter. Establish pictorial unity through visual metaphor, multiple focal points, space and color. How to use warm and cool and dark and light contrast. Explore the power of using “active” and “quiet” areas. Dive in a territory where accident, recklessness are opportunities.” –Kassem Amoudi
